REVIVING A CLASSIC: CUSTOM HILLCLIMB 1969 ALFA ROMEO GTAM

When it comes to motorsports, there are few things more exciting than a ground-up redesign of a classic race car. And that's exactly what Josh from @motorsport_engineering has been working on, with their own custom-built Alfa Romeo GTAm.

This is not just any ordinary race car, but a modern take on the 1969 classic, designed to compete in the European Hillclimb Championship.

Josh, is an avid fan of Pro-Bolt's products and has been working on this project to promote interest in racing engineering outside the closed world of Formula 1 and Le Mans Prototypes.

The car is being built in a garage in Kent, with no professional race team or 20-person pit crew. Instead, using his skills, knowledge, and a lot of Sunday afternoons, to create a car that will push the limits of engineering and design. (With a little help from Pro-Bolt's titanium hardware!)

Based on a custom V8 engine, the powerplant has been developed from 2 Hayabusa heads, and it's expected to produce around 850hp with the help of twin turbos. The space frame chassis supports full pushrod suspension with torsion bar anti-roll, and it will be surrounded by a carbon fibre body.

Using Pro-Bolt's Banjo Bolts, Race Spec Drilled Hex Bolts, and Conical Tapered Socket Cap Bolts throughout the build, they've been impressed with the quality and durability of the products.

The project is being done purely for the love of motorsports and engineering, with no commercial interest. It's not intended to be a production vehicle, but rather an exercise in the extremes of what's possible.

And with new sponsor agreements starting to speed up the build process, we’re so excited to see the finished product on track.

This project is a great example of how enthusiasts can take a classic race car and turn it into something truly special, and Pro-Bolt is proud to be a part of it.
